Welcome to the Digital Technologies Teacher’s Lounge.

The Teacher’s Lounge – a free curated ‘one-stop-shop’ for resources and information to support the delivery of Computing and Digital Technologies in New Zealand schools.  Take some time to check through the links and add this site to your bookmarks.  Enjoy!

This blog was started by Ginette Van Praag in 2011 to support the implementation of the new NCEA Digital Technologies standards.  At the time, Ginette was a sole DT teacher trying to get to grips with the new standards.  The information at the time was spread across a range of sources and was virtually impossible to keep track of. In response to this, Ginette curated the main resources into a blog format and The Teacher’s Lounge was born!

Here we are 6 years later, embarking on a National implementation of DT as part of NZC and DT teachers are in the same boat again, only this time there’s a few thousand more of us!

So while the new curriculum is truly something to celebrate it’s time to dust off the blog and update it for 2018!

What have we been up to?

It’s been a while since the blog was updated, things are looking good for The Technology Hub. In 2016 the company was one of the 9 providers selected nationally to develop a seed project for the Strengthening Digital Technologies fund. The project ran for the first two terms of this year with six schools from the Wairarapa Region. You can read more here. The resources developed in support of the project are available for free to all NZ teachers.

Centrally Funded DT PLD – ready when you are!

Ginette is now an MoE Accredited PLD Facilitator, specialising in NZC DT and The Technology Hub has just been accredited as a PLD Provider so we are all set to work with schools in implementing teaching and learning programmes from 2018.
